Thank You, Lance Bass!

When N*Sync became mega stars, I had made the conscience decision that Lance was my favorite one.  I know what you’re saying, “He’s gay!”  Well, he certainly wasn’t gay when he was my celebrity crush.  He was straight.  Straight, straight, straight!  He was just the quiet and reserved one, that’s all.

I was notorious for picking the boy band member who wasn’t the most popular one and ended up having some sort of issue.  With NKOTB, it was Jon Knight, who ended up having severe anxiety or something like that.  Not sure how he coped with going out on stage every night, but it totally screwed him up.  And then there’s Lance.  I mean I had such a mega crush on him that my friends gave me a poster of him for my birthday and all this other N*Sync crap.  I cut out his pictures from all those teen magazines and paste them in a note book and drew little hearts and stars everywhere.  And I was 20…yes, 20 years old and in college.  I’m not proud of it now but that actually happened.

When Lance came out on the cover of People Magazine it was a total heartbreaker.  The news had leaked out a few days early and I could not believe it.  I actually refused to believe it until I could hold that magazine in my hands, stare at the cover and read every word of the article.

I even blogged about it when I still had a MySpace account.  Here’s the first, original post: So, most people already have heard the news: Lance Bass is GAY!!!!! It will feel official this Friday when People Magazine will honor his gayness by placing his story on the cover. What the hell is going on here? Ok, for those who really know me, know that Lance was my favorite Nsync-er! For those who don’t, be glad you weren’t there to witness the obsession I had in college. It was bad! Well, yet again, the gays have taken another good piece of eye candy that young girls all over the world dreamt about. Sorry, ladies, he is not a breeder. Although in the article he is quoted as “loving women.’ Ummm, excuse me, but if you love women so much then why aren’t you marrying me!?!? If I didn’t read bloggers like “Pink is the New Blog” or “Perez Hilton” then my shock might have sent me into a coma on Friday when I see the cover. Thankfully, I have a couple of days for this to settle in and get use to the idea of Lance being gay. Are there any straight men left in the world? If I read that Jake Gyllenhall is gay I am going to kill myself. Not only is Lance, gay but he also has a super hot boyfriend. Who is this Reichen anyway? I have a hard enough time getting a guy’s attention, let alone a hot guy! You know as soon as you see a young celebrity posing in pictures with Kathy Griffin you know they’re gay. She is like the “queen” fag hag. I guess that should have been my first clue. I just didn’t want to believe. Like I said, as long as Jake remains straight then I’ll still keep the faith. Good Luck Lance! and you will always and forever have a special place in my heart!

I remember where I was when I got the news and what I was doing.  I can’t remember for the life of me what I was doing when the cops were chasing down OJ in the white bronco, but I can definitely remember what I was doing when Lance told the world he was gay.  I had friends from college text me, email and call to check in on me.  They asked me if I was okay and that if I needed support they were there for me.  It was tough, but I was able to handle it pretty well.

Thanks to Lance it sparked my desire to blog.  I was able to find a place to let out all my superficial feelings and vent to the world all my problems and issues.  So thank you, Lance Bass for crushing my dreams of you falling in love with me.  Thank you for liking boys and pushing me to blog.  It is all because of you, Lance!  It’s all because of you!
